Thank you to everyone that contributed to the success of our first Hip Hop Republicans TV and LACYR New Year’s Eve Party.  According to the club owners, there were over 350 people in attendance that night. The hip hop dance floor was hopping, the salsa dancing was hot, and the can-can girls were amazing! The band, D.J., and singers, who without them there would be no party, contributed to the fun night as they showed off their fantastic talents. And, last but not least, gotta give the Chef a big “SHOUT OUT!” The food was delicious!

Although we understood that this type of event would offend some of our more conservative Republican brethren (in fact, some did stay away), we are, after all, “young” Republicans, and we love to have fun. The party provided an opportunity for Republicans from all over the county of Los Angeles to mingle together and discuss issues with political figures, members of the entertainment industry, and Republicans of all walks of life.

The crowd was indeed diverse. The ethnic diversity, for example, was as rich as the ethnic diversity of our great city. The economic backgrounds ranged from the blue collar working man/woman to the wealthy investor. We were also joined by gay Republicans. Interesting. And, although there were Republicans that stayed away, there were Democrats that decided to join us. Even more interesting. It was a fun filled night and gave many a chance to party with people they thought they had nothing in common with. There is certainly a lot of misconception about what a Republican looks like these days.

We’re also happy to report that we made new friends and added new members to the LACYR because of the party. Great!
