On the first day of the New Year, members of the LACYR took a trip to see the Rose Parade floats. In our company, where Shirley Husar from the blog t.v. show Hip Hop Republicans.t.v., candidate for Superintendant for Public Instruction, Lydia Gutierrez, and her campaign manager, Jorge Riley from the California Young Republicans.

The morning was freezing cold, but the floats were beautiful and everyone we met that night was friendly. Candidate Lydia Gutierrez took many pictures in front of her favorite floats and to my surprise, although she has a slender frame, she braved the weather just like the rest of us. Shirley Husar spent the night videotaping and interviewing people along the floats. In fact, she did so much interviewing that the battery on her camera went dead which was good for the rest of us because by then we were tired, hungry and ready to go home. After having breakfast together at a nearby restaurant, some of us did not get home until after six in the morning, but we had a good time and enjoyed hanging out with candidate and LACYR member, Lydia Gutierrez.
