Board of Directors

Executive Committee

Matthew Fleischmann- President

Matt Fleischmann was born and raised in Long Beach, CA, where his family has lived for over 80 years. He has been involved in local California politics since 2004, and is currently starting a small business. Matt likes to take on issues at the ideological and conceptual levels and enjoys healthy debate. His passion for smaller government drives him to continue his involvement in the Republican Party . As a strong principled conservative he stands tall no matter what the weather is like. Matt once, amazingly, unscrambled an egg and, unlike anyone else, is allowed to talk about Fight Club.

Karen Elizes  - Vice President karen
My name is Karen A. Elizes and I’m proud to say that I am a young Republican. What triggered my change from Socialist to conservative Republican was Winston Churchill’s famous quote, “Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.” I took this quote to heart fearing that I would be doomed to be an idiot in the future. I did my research and found that I AM A REPUBLICAN. I am 2 year college student studying Political Science and International Relations. After getting my masters, I plan on joining the armed forces to serve this great country. I also plan on going to law school to study government law. My one dream in life is to be a stateswoman, not a politician.

David Bozin-Secretary 94220003

My name is David Bozin, and am currently proudly serving as your Secretary here at LACYR. I have traveled all throughout Europe,  both east and west, and after observing the political systems there, I have come to the realization that America is reaching a critical point in its history. With the passage of the Health Care Bill, along with the general movement of the bureaucratic system, the vision that America’s forefathers had for the country they created are going down the drain. Thus, I find it very important to put myself into the betterment of my country. While many say that it is time to change our Constitution to better fit our times, for people need more equality and freedom, I am the one to stand, and say that such is not what America is about; America stands for liberty, and the more equality we ask for, the less liberty we have. The liberty of America will not be given by itself, it must be worked for.

Robert Jones – Treasurer

Robert Jones has lived in long beach his entire life and wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else in the world! He comes from a large family of 6 siblings, 3 boys and 3 girls. He graduated from Millikan high school and went to grammar school all within Long Beach. At the age of 20 he served on a mission for his local LDS church. In his spare time he likes to read and go on long walks on the beach. Robert is a naturally competitive person and his claims to fame is “I NEVER lose”.

Catherine Casady-Co-Chair

Catherine Casady has volunteered on multiple Republican campaigns in the last 12 years including both Bush Presidential elections and the McCain campaign. In 2005, she volunteered 18 months in Central Argentina for an international philanthropic oraganization before earning a BA from Long Beach State in 2008.  She has worked in finance and entertainment since 2001 making the switch to the non-profit sector, where she directs an afterschool program for at-risk teens on the Westside of Long Beach. A native Southern California girl, she loves Huntington Beach on the Fourth of July, Hollywood Bowl in September and playing softball with her family on Labor Day. She is a singer by trade and speaks Spanish fluently. She is also a member of the Long Beach Republican Women’s Federated and The 7 Ladies of Liberty.

Derek Easley – Co-Chair

Derek Easley works in the entertainment industry, and studied film at LBCC, CSULB, UCLA Extension, and the Hollywood Film Institute. He competitively played three sports, most significantly football, and started involvement in student government in the 7th grade, and ended up governing over 27,000 students and budgets over a million dollars in college. Derek has experience in management, directing, producing, screenwriting, and professional acting on stage and screen. He enjoys volunteering for his church, especially helping out with the homeless or visiting orphans in Mexicali. Since he was a child, he’s been obsessed with all things regarding Superman, which is why he is fully against Iran’s Kryptonite Enrichment Program
