About Us

About Us

The LACYR is an organization of Young Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40…of course those not in our demographic can become Associate Members.

Our General Membership meetings are the last Tuesday of the month at 7pm, in different locations throughout LA County.  We also try to have at least one social event and political activism event per month as well.

We wish to push a grass roots movement of Young Republicans to become educated, active, and vocal in political issues and events. We represent fiscal conservatism, strong national security, rebuilding our economy by supporting small businesses and lowering taxes, improving the environment, healthcare, education and infrastructure at home, securing our borders, achieving energy independence, and upholding the Constitution of the United States of America.

Our motto is: Fiscal Responsibility-Strong National Security-Conservative Values

History and Timeline of Events

Our organization started in January of 2009 as the Long Beach Young Republicans, when Long Beach Republican Women Federated member (and current LACYR President) Catherine Casady saw that an organization for committed young Republicans like herself was needed in the Long Beach area.

January – March 2009

With the support of groups like the Republican Women Federated and the Long Beach Area Republican Party, Catherine was soon able to grow the club and get other like-minded people on her side.

Club meetings were held routinely at Smooth’s Sports Bar in Long Beach, with such guest speakers as Long Beach City Auditor Laura Doud, Long Beach City Prosecutor Tom Reeves, and Former Long Beach City Council Candidate Rick Berry.  These leading Long Beach Republicans were some of the biggest boosters to our club, and

March 2009-May 2009

When members attended tea parties in April across Los Angeles County, they encountered young conservatives without a unified meeting place and voice to turn their beliefs into action.  Upon further investigation, the leaders of the (then) Long Beach Young Republicans discovered that there was NO organized Los Angeles County Young Republican club, and that they were willing to take up that mantle.

June 2009

The Los Angeles County Young Republicans organization was officially relaunched on June 30, in the city where it all started–Long Beach.  On the rooftop of Smooth’s, over 50 Young Republicans, from as far away as Diamond Bar and Chino Hills, gathered to support the reawakening of a Young Republican Revival.  One of of our biggest earliest supporters, Republican Long Beach Prosecutor Tom Reeves gave a

speech to rally our base!

September 2009 and Beyond
LACYR has officially chartered with the California Young Republicans, who were a big supporter from the very beginning of our announcement as the Los Angeles County Young Republicans.
